OYO launches ‘Auto Party’ for weddings, event planning

Hotel-aggregator OYO has announced the launch of a new vertical, Auto Party, a service platform that provides banqueting and event planning services to customers, a report by the Economic Times said.

According to the SoftBank backed firm, Auto Party will offer a one-stop shop for weddings and other events by integrating services like banqueting space, catering and decor along with dedicated event planners for clients.

The service is available across all categories offered by OYO including Townhouse, Homes, Silver Keys, and flagships and is currently live in eight cities including Delhi/NCR, Jaipur, Lucknow, Kolkata, Mumbai and Bangalore. As far as pricing is considered, while the tailored packages that come with individual event planners and the indoor banquets are priced at INR 399 per head onwards, outdoor banquet with a garden is priced at INR 699 onwards.

Furthermore, customers can get a video walk-through of these venues along with estimates of the food and decor costs. The official website also mentions that all AutoPlay events are ‘covered by cameras that can relay LIVE Feed of the banquet.  Customers can also opt for food tasting at their homes through the Auto Party website.

Oyo’s recent moves

In June, OYO officially announced its foray into China and said that it has about 11,000 rooms in 26 cities including Hangzhou, Xian, Nanjing, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Shenzhen, Xiamen and Kunming among others. Back in May, it had been reported that OYO had silently begun operations in Shenzen, with prices starting around ¥100 (Chinese Yuan) which is around Rs 1000.

In February, OYO struck a deal with MakeMyTrip to list OYO’s inventory of hotels across India, Malaysia and Nepal will be listed on MakeMyTrip and its brand Goibibo. A similar deal was signed between Yatra and OYO in 2017. The three online travel agents had delisted OYO from their platforms in 2015.
